How, underneath that self-righteous narrator, you can just see the eye-rolls. They couldn't very well go out and say: oh, the Gestapo is just like our guys at home, aren't they? But it's implied, right there. That's why the Nazis are such nice affable chaps here. Them speaking Russian contributes to the message, too. The author of the Stierlitz novels wrote the screenplay himself, y'see, and this...... well. I kid you not. I did not add the slashy stuff. Cross my heart, it was written that way. /rant
